Special Events

We have had many special activities in the past. These events have brought together fun and music and have opened up new dimensions to looking at the way music can be appreciated and propagated amongst the youth.

YACM Carnival - The carnival was a project conducted to involve children from many different schools. These children were asked to create a stall for their school which had many music related games and activities in which people could take part. To further motivate the children, an award was given to the school with the best stall, apart from other awards for best games and activities, etc. This event was a huge success each time it was conducted, with attendance of over 500 people.

Carnival Pictures - 2008 Anniversary

Millenium Show - This show was one of its kind, specially organised to note the beginning of a new millenium, held the night of December 31st, 1999. It involved over 100 school students singing Maithreem Bhajatha at the stroke of midnight. We are extremely honoured and priviledged to have had the loving support of many of the doyens of Carnatic music. They made the show exceptionally memorable by performing with each other for the first time ever.

  • Sri Semmengudi Srininivasa Iyer started the show with his performance and a few inspiring words for the New Millenium.
  • Smt. D.K. Pattammal and Sri K.V.Narayanaswamy sang together.
  • Sri T.N.Seshagopalan and Sri N. Ramani performed a jugalbandhi accompanied by Guruvayoor Sri Dorai on the Mridangam.
  • Sri M.S. Gopalakrishnan and Sri V.V. Subramaniam performed together accompanied by Sri T.K. Murthy.
  • Guru Karaikkudi Sri Mani and Vellore Sri Ramabadhran presented a unique pallavi together.
  • Lalgudi Sri G. Jayaraman conducted an orchestra.
  • Smt. M.S. Subbulakshmi taught the school children the evergreen Maithreem Bhajatha.
  • All the leading musicians of the younger generation performed together.

Millenium Show Pictures

Special Andhra Ugadi Series - This year, 2008, YACM Organised a two day musican extravaganza featuring artists from Andhra who are talented and we made them perform in chennai for the very first time. The event was a roaring success with full attendance on all the days. All the 4 concerts were exemplary and it was very well recieved, thanks to the support of our members and the Rasikas!
